AN Irish Birthday

My youngest brother has a birthday coming up later this week. He was almost a St Patrick's Day baby. The joke in our family always was that my dad, who was of Scotish decent, didn't want him born on the 17th. He drove my mom, Irish decent, and us to her mother's house and made sure to hit every bump along the way. Dad always said this was why he was born on the 16th. A compromise was made and his middle name is Patrick to make up for missing the date.

Zero Birthday

Yesterday was our sister's birthday and it was one of those zero years. So that kind of a birthday needs a metallic look. The technique used to make this card is called faux stainless steel. The greeting and bee are cut from copper foil paper. Happy Birthday Judy.

Happy Birthday Boots

March 4 is coming soon.  It would have been Jim's father's 99th birthday.  It is hard to believe he has been gone 30 years. The sentiment on this card is his sense of humor.  It is also appropriate for marching in boots on March 4th (forth).

Happy Birthday

Today is Jim's birthday.  So I guess you can pretend this is the two of us sitting on a park bench.  But we don't have a dog so ignore the dog.  We are going out for breakfast today but it has nothing to do with his birthday.  It is our regular breakfast out day with our fellow math teacher buddies.  One of the other members has a birthday today also.  Maybe there will be a surprise cake.

Cards for Cat Lovers

Most of the members of our family are cat fans, although a few dog lovers are in there too.  Here are some cat cards that I made for various occasions.  I know many of them will be used this year so if you are a family member, don't look too close or you may spoil your birthday card surprise.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today would have been my mom's 96th birthday.  This is the type of card that I would send her.  She would love the lacy look and the pearls.  Unlike me in my blue jeans and Crocs, she always liked to dress up with heels and hats.

Beautiful Ladies

On one of the Stampin' Up! pages I belong to,  Michelle Carter posted some of the cards she made using this stamp set and the paper piecing technique.  I remembered that I had made some using the technique too and hoped that I took pictures.  I like the black and red together.  This paper has been retired for awhile now and I am down to very small pieces so there won't be many more like this.  Some of the sisters will be getting a different color than the others.  Oh and don't worry about them seeing the card before they get it.  None of them look at the blog anymore.

Happy Birthday

Today is Jim's birthday, I won't say how old since I am not that far behind him.  We are going out for dinner but not because of his birthday.  He is playing with his dulcimer group today and won't be home until right before dinner time.  He is the cook and doesn't want to have to cook after getting home.  Don't even think that I should cook him dinner.

Some More Gold Fish

This card has the same blue for water and orange for the goldfish,  But it also has what is called Sahara Sand.  I think that color is close enough to represent the beach.  I think this card along with the one I posted earlier this week are the only two cards I made with this stamp.  Looking at it, I didn't even put a greeting on it.  What's up with that?

Birthday for Children

I really need to do a better job of making birthday cards for children.  I guess because I don't need that many cards for young children I don't buy many stamps for that type of card.  I did like these goldfish but haven't used the set very much.  I saw a card like this somewhere and like the idea of blue for water and gold for fish.  I have one more out of this set to post later this week.

Today would have been my mom's birthday and I always wish her a happy birthday on my blog.  I sure do miss her.

Zero Birthdays

I needed some zero birthday cards and these are two I came up with.  I made a 50 card like them too, same layout but different designer paper.  They aren't the best but they will do.

Age Awareness Day

I have a sister in law who lies about her age.  There is no other way to put it to make it sound nicer.  Yes she is younger than me by quite a few years, but she has been 30 for more than 20 years.  In fact, her daughter is now older than she is.  So I think this greeting on a birthday card will be a good one for her.  I got this idea on pinterest but I used a different color for the background.  My SIL loves purple.  She also loves cats.

Hot Air Balloons

Here is the same stamp set made up as hot air balloons.  I sent this card to one of my brothers this year because when he was young he love hot air balloons.  I think it would be great made up in college school colors for the team fanatics. 

Birthday Balloons

I love this stamp set because the balloons can be made like traditional balloons or as hot air balloons.  I will post a card later this week where I use it for a hot air balloon.  The set can also easily be used for a male or female. 

Happy Birthday Tom

About three weeks ago I told you someone close to me was having surgery.  It was my husband having knee replacement.  He is getting along great and I owe a big thanks to two of my brothers for coming to stay with us.  They each took a week so the first two weeks I had help.  Today is my brother Tom's birthday.  He had week #1 so he got to sit with me at the hospital and help get DH in the house and up the stairs the first night home.  He was so much help.  I hope he has a great birthday.

Golf Birthday Card; Male Version

All of my nephews golf but only one seems to like it enough to play high school golf.  He has a birthday this month and this is the card I made him.  I have a female version that I will post another day.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today would have been my dad's birthday.  He and I were both born on the 22nd of a month, just different months and years of course.  It is hard to believe that he has been gone 11 years.  I miss him and my mom and think of them all the time.

Thirty and Forty

Here are the cards I made for someone turning 30 and someone turning 40.  I remember those days.  I thought I was getting so old back then.  Now I know I wasn't even close to being old and I am sure feeling my age now.

Turning Sixty

Last year I made some cards with numbers on them for special birthdays.  I made a few more this year using a different design.  Here is the one for someone turning 60.
