Friends and Wine

I am really not a big wine drinker or drinker of any kind of alcohol.  However, I do love Sangria.  We have a great recipe for it.  Do you have a favorite kind of wine?

Best Wishes

Our band director recently told us that he will begin treatments for cancer.  He is very positive about this procedure and the docs are confident that he will be cured.  We wanted to send an inspirational card to him but not really a get well or thinking of you type.  I have known him a long time and thought this was the perfect card for him.  He was very touched by all the messages he received in it.

Sheltering Tree

I missed out getting the stamp set Branch Out a few years ago and have regretted it ever since.  I was so happy to see this stamp set in the Occasions catalog because it is so similar to Branch Out.  This one is the Sheltering Tree.  I made this one for my BFF who sat with me at the hospital and sent food while Jim had his knee surgery.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today would have been my dad's 92nd birthday. He was a coffee drinker, but only for breakfast. He had a very big coffee cup that probably held 2 cups of coffee. He liked the big cup because he was also a dunker. He especially liked to dunk my mom's homemade raisin cookies. My friend Anna loaned me this set to make some coffee tiles which I will post soon. I looked for ideas on Splitcoast but they didn't have this set but a similar one. So I used those cards as my inspiration. The one on the left in the first picture uses a little scrap Whitney gave me. That is all I have of it and it was just enough. I thought it looked like steam.

Tri-shutter Card

When Whitney was here, she taught us how to make what is called a tri-shutter card. The top card is what it looks like when it is closed. When you open it, you see that it has a lot of little panels that are decorated. If you read the verse on the front, you will understand why there are footprints on the card. I added a personal note to the last panel and attached it with one of those spiral paper clip things. Since it was a personal note, I did not attach it until after I took the picture.
