Happy Valentine's Day

How are you spending Valentine's Day?  I will be doing what I do just about every Thursday night, going to my community band practice.

LOVE

This is another card that I saw in Papercrafts magazine.  It used different paper and a different alphabet set but the colors and idea were the same.  The V in love is made from a SU ribbon that retired awhile ago.

Tic Tac Toe

I saw an idea like this in Papercrafts magazine.  So I thought it was another good card to make using my Stampin' Up! conversation hearts stamp and matching punch.

Wedding Treasure Boxes

These are wooden boxes that come with a frame for a top.  Jim used my wedding greeting cards as a model to design a stained glass insert for them.  There is one more box that I will be posting at a later date.  My card is at the bottom of the picture with the box he made at the top. The bride and groom card was inspired by Lynn Pratt.

Hearts on a Heart

I made a card similar to these last year and put tiny flowers on the heart.  This year I saw a card in Papercrafts magazine the put tiny hearts on a heart.  So I used my SU conversation hearts stamp and punched out a bunch of them.

Flowers for Your Valentine

I guess roses are a more traditional flower for Valentine's Day but this hydrangea fit in this circle so nicely.  Now I forget is it pink because of the acidic soil or would that make the flower blue?

Vintage Valentines

The designer paper I used on these cards was nice but I thought it needed just a little something more.  So I inked one of my stamp  sets with pool party ink and stamped on the DSP.  The lace that I used is some from my MILs's stash.  She had so much sewing stuff when she passed and I try to use some of it instead of buying new.  After all this is a vintage card.

Glass Amaryllis

Although there is some light that you can see on the firecrackers in the background, the flowers are the subject of this post.  These flowers are amazing with light behind them.  This picture was taken at a craft show so you can see how he displays his glass items.  With the sun shining on them the colors are brilliant.

Embossed Heart

I have made several valentines now but I need to save some of them for my February posts.  But, since I promised to post a few I will, but then you have to wait.  This heart was made using framelits which are designed to cut.  But by using a mat and turning the framelit cutting edges away from the paper you get this look.

Happy Birthday Jim

I really made this card to use as a Valentine, but today is Jim's birthday so I thought it would be ok to post it for him.  It isn't the card I made for him but he did see this one and liked it.  He's not one of those guys that get all bent out of shape over pink.

Conversation Hearts

I bought this jar stamp a LONG time before it came out in the past SU holiday mini from a mom and pop stamp store.  As soon as I saw the conversation hearts stamp last year I knew I wanted to make something with the hearts and jar.  I also used another Stampin' Up retired valentine set on one of the cards.  I think the card with the mouse needs some more hearts.  Easy to do just stamp and then punch with the matching heart punch.  Thinking of my mom today.

Thoughts of You and Happy New Year

Soon I will be making valentine cards, but I have this picture ready to go.  I guess after getting through all the holidays with only new years day left it is time for a break.  So I am taking a week or so off from posting so that I can get busy making those valentine cards.  I really don't have anything new right now anyway because I goofed off during the past few weeks.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas

Today is the day that young children look forward to because Santa has arrived.  Let us remember the real reason why we celebrate Christmas though as we spend time with friends and family.

Church Street Stroll

Last night we went to Dade City with our friends Rod, Elyce, Zac and Alyssa to attend the Church Street Stroll.  The houses and churches along the street are all decorated for Christmas. There is free musical entertainment along the street and inside the churches.  Some of the businesses are along the street giving out free hot chocolate, cake, cupcakes, and donuts.  We really enjoyed it and hope to return again in the future.  A cold front has come through so it is finally starting to feel like winter instead of almost summer weather.  The cold air made it feel like Christmas.  This is the card I made for one of my band directors.

Valentine Already?

No it isn't a valentine card but the stamp is from a valentine set.  I used it as an anniversary card.  I never would have thought to do this but I saw a card like it on splitcoast.  I kind of wanted to draw a heart on the brown tree bark and put some initials in it.  I didn't think I would draw well enough though so I skipped that step.  Jim's mom and dad were married sometime around this date.  I forget the exact date though and don't want to go look it up.  But I do remember that today is the anniversary of Jim's dad's death 24 years ago.  I can not believe he has been gone that long.  We buried him on their wedding anniversary.

Christmas Door

I saw this card on my friend Linda's blog.  I love doing punch art so of course I had to CASE it.  I have a link to her blog on our blog if you would like to see her card. (L C Creations, Oct 1 post) Merry Christmas, Linda and thanks for sharing you work.

Last Two Cards from Brayer Class

I really enjoyed taking these classes with Michelle Zindorf and plan to make some cards using the brayer on my own.  She has free tutorials on her blog so I am going to try to improve my skills.

December Already?

Today is December 7 which means Christmas is very near.  I made this card months ago and saved it for my first December post, then forgot to add it on Dec 1.   It uses some of my stash of retired teal card stock.  You can't tell from this picture but the white snowflake layer has silver ink that I smeared on them.  The silver and teal look good together.

December Birthdays

Turquoise is one of the birthstones for December.  This card is made with bermuda bay cardstock.  It is in the turquoise family.  Heather and Tim have birthdays this month.

Some More Brayer Work

Here is another of the cards I made at the class that Michelle Zindorf taught.  I didn't get the blue near the beach quite dark enough for the white foam at the edge of the water to show up well.  If you look real close you can see it.  This stamp set has a lot of sealife stamps so I am going to try it again using a shell and get the blue darker.
