Don't be a Crab

It isn't quite beach weather around here, well at least not for me, but this card makes me think of the beach.  Looking forward to May when I will spend some time at the beach.

You Make Me Happy

Now that spring is here, maybe the cold weather is done for those of you that have been having so much snow and cold.  These suns have been popping up all over pinterest and splitcoast so I don't know who first had the idea of using the banner punch for sun rays.  It sure makes a cute card.

An Interesting Tree

I bought this stamp last year when I went to the stamp store in Las Vegas.  I spent a lot of time in the store looking at all the stamps so I felt like I had to buy a few stamps.  This is one of several that I bought.  Unfortunately sympathy cards are always needed around here.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my baby brother Tom.  It is also our niece Amy's birthday today.  I am so excited that we will be seeing Amy, her DH, and 3 young children when they visit Disney.  We have not seen them in awhile.

Another thinking of You Card

I seem to be needing a lot of thinking of you cards lately.  I have several friends that really need a little pick-me-up and the only thing I know to do is send a handmade greeting card.

Thinking of You

When I saw this card on Pinterest, I liked the simplicity of it.  Now I usually have a hard time with simple cards so I am not sure why I was attracted to this one.  I will probably send it to my friend that I have talked about before going through chemo.

Happy Birthday Dad

So if you thought the last card was still too girlie to send to a guy, then I think these two may be more to your liking.  The background is DSP from a retired set of Stampin' Up! papers.  I just picked two sections of two different papers to get the effect I wanted.  Today would have been Jim's dad birthday.  He has been gone for a long time but we still think of him on his special day.

Birthday Greetings

I saw this card somewhere, oh I spend too much time online.  The one I saw was done like the card on the left.  I decided to try one oriented the other way too.  Which one do you like best?  I think the bright colors on this card could be used for either a male or female.  Yeah I know there is some pink but I think the guy could get over it.

Another New Baby

This time the baby was not a family member but the daughter of my best friend.  The exciting thing is the baby was born on my birthday.  I now have a birthday buddy.  The reason I picked the elephants for the card is the baby's dad painted something very similar on the nursery wall. They also used the same pattern as the Stampin' Up! embossing folder that I used on the card.  She is one month old today.

Mr and Mrs

Happy Anniversary to us.  I guess that sort of says it all.  I saw a card very similar to this one that someone  posted on splitcoast.  I have quite a few of those vintage looking flowers and thought this was the perfect card to use up some of them.  How are we celebrating?  Well, I have a card class this morning  and whenever I have the card group over he goes and gives blood.

Happy Valentine's Day

This is such an old stamp set that I have.  But I can't seem to part with it because I think the elephant is so cute.  The stamp has words around the head that say something specific for a friend.  I use a marker to ink the stamp and don't put ink on the words.  This way it can be used for anyone.

Florida State Fair

You may remember seeing this piece of Jim's that I have posted before.  Look at the November 2013 post, Jim's Most Amazing Glass for some pictures under different lighting to get a better idea of what this looks like.  With some encouragement from some members of the Creative Craft Guild, he entered it and another piece in the state fair.  Imagine his surprise when he got a call that it had won a best of show in the stained glass category.

Non-Traditional Colors

I like to try new colors on cards that traditionally are some particular color.  Although there are flowers on these cards, I don't think they are overly frilly.

Glass Flowers

This looks like a strange picture.  I took it at a craft show.  The blue jeans that you see are our tent weights.  The PVC pipe is just to hold the flowers near the tent and to make them more visible so people don't walk into them. Wondering what they are.  They are just some yard art that Jim made.  He has a mold for the flowers and they are made in the kiln.

January Card Class

These are two of the valentines I  planned for my January card class.  If someone didn't want a valentine the one on the right was changed by removing the hearts and replacing them with flowers.  The card on the left I thought would be good to send to the youngsters.  If someone wanted a big flower there instead I will had my die ready for them to use.

A Friend in Need

Our retired mathematics teacher group meets once a month for breakfast, all social no business allowed.  I will be bringing a card each month for everyone to sign for our friend going through chemo.  Ours is a close group having spent many years together in the county school system.  We weren't all at the same schools but saw each other regularly at student competitions, county wide meetings and things like that.  We will help her through this the best we can since she has moved north and to the other coast from us.  I got the idea for this card on Splitcoast using different colors.

Hearts and More Hearts

Two more Valentines from my stash of designer paper.  I tried to use at least a little on every valentine I made.  Hopefully some of these look  like they could be sent to a male.  I do tend to use too many girly things.

You Can Do It

One of my teaching buddies recently started chemo.  She has moved far away from the area where our core group of retired teachers live so there really isn't much we can do to help her.  Just like I have with many of my friends who have gone through chemo treatments, I plan to support her with cards.  She is a strong person so I know she can do this.
This is a CASE of Connie Collins.  She used a different stamp set and where she used red I used yellow.  Where she used yellow I used red.

Hugs and Kisses

This designer paper is a few years old.  I have used it before but ordered some off the clearance rack so I have more to use.  I didn't buy any new Valentine paper this year because I have so much already that I need to use.  The bottom card has a removable bookmark for anyone that still reads books instead of kindles.

The First of the Valentines

I know you are saying what is she thinking, we just finished Christmas.  That is true but since I have a craft show coming up in about 3 weeks, I need to get busy working on Valentine cards.  I made about 10 styles so far and I think I like these the best.
