Raining on Sunflowers

I saw this card on pinterest and knew I had to make one like it.  I love sunflowers and daisies.  This was made using the mosaic punch.  I love the way she put crystal effects in a few places to look like rain drops.  Notice that I copied that idea.

Fringe Scraps

I made this card using the scraps that were left from the first fringe card that I posted.  This paper makes a very cheerful, bright card that could be used for many occasions.

Flying in to Say ....

Happy Birthday.  My nephew, I know we have so many,  is turning 18 today.  It is hard to believe how quickly the time goes.  It seems like not that long ago that he was born.

Sweet 16

I thought this would make a fun card for a 16th birthday card.  I will have a nephew turning 16 real soon.  Not sure if he is anxious to give his license though.  So many are not getting a license as soon as they can.

It's a Boy

Another new grand nephew for us.  We've know for a while that it was going to be a boy.  Congrats Cathy and Chuck.  They now have one of each.

Southwest Feel Fringe Card

One last card I made using the fringe scissors. This one sort of has a southwest feel to it for me.  I guess it is the clay and turquoise colors that make me think that way.

Christmas in July

So many stores advertise Christmas in July.  I happen to have all my Christmas cards already made but maybe you would like to see a Christmas in July card.  It is so Floridian too.  Don't worry, it isn't the card I am sending this year so it is ok to look.

Ombre and Fringe

Another example of a fringe card.  This also uses what I have seen called the ombre technique.  From what I can tell, it means shades of the same color arranged from light to dark.

Fringe Scissors

I just recently bought a pair of Stampin' Up! fringe scissors. They are fun to use and very easy too.  I have a series of cards coming up that I CASEd from cards I have seen on Pinterest and Splitcoast.  I am not sure which ones came from which site but if you happen to know, let me know so I can give credit to the original.

Fourth of July

Today is the day to celebrate the birth of our nation.  Along with the picnics and fireworks let us not forget that many young men and women have given their lives so that we can continue to have our freedom.  This is a picture of the Arizona memorial.  It was the first tour that we booked when arriving in Honolulu because it was so important to us.

More Love and Sympathy

I usually use this stamp with the flower stamp that is in the set.  I saw a card made with some flourishes so I though I would give it a try.  Just a few days after I made it, my neighbor came over to ask if I had a sympathy card she could use.  There are three of us that seem to constantly need sympathy cards.  I hope they bring some peace to those that receive them.

Baby Elephant

A friend of ours, my BFF's daughter, decorated her new baby's room with elephants.  Her husband painted a mama elephant and a baby on the wall.  Here is a glass elephant that Jim made.  When the baby was born I made an elephant card that I sent to them.

Dog and Cat Angels

This past week two of the ladies in my Stampin' Up! group lost a pet.  One lady lost a dog and one a cat.  Both pets had been in the family for awhile.  Jim makes these pet angels to offer a little comfort for those who are missing their fur buddies.

Black Sand Beaches

This little cave was at one of the beaches that we visited.  We were with a tour group so we didn't have time to get in the water.  Truth is the water was a little chilly for me.  The beach here is made up of black sand.

Unique Trees

Doesn't it look like someone painted splotches on these trees?  It isn't paint though, but the bark of this particular tree.  We saw these trees in Maui while we were driving the Road to Hana.

Aloha!

We just got back from two weeks in Hawaii.  That is why I have been seeing a lot of tropical flowers.  I will just be posting a few pictures on the blog but for those of you who are FB friends, there will be more on our FB page in a few days. Here is the view we had from our balcony patio one afternoon after a brief shower.

Tropical Flowers

I just recently saw a lot of tropical flowers.  I do live in a tropical area so of course I see them nearly everyday.  But these were special tropical flowers.  I am going to keep you in suspense to find out more about these flowers.

Another Sunflower

See I told you, I love sunflowers.  This Stampin' Up! stamp is called a background stamp because it is so big.  It is so big that I can't fit the whole thing on the size paper I use for my cards.  The paper and ribbon  on this card are crushed curry. The ribbon is retired but I still have a lot of it to use.  That's ok because I don't mind using retired products.

Some New Butterflys

Along with flowers, another of my favorite things to use on cards are butterflies.  These two are on a new Spellbinders die that I bought.  The papers are all from Stampin' Up! as is the embossing folder that I used to make the lacy trim.

Happy Birthday Ken

This card was made from parts of last year's Sale A Bration kit that I am just getting around to using now.  I added the cupcake and scalloped circle behind it.  Today is my brother's birthday and it is one of those zero birthday.  We are getting so old.
