Napkin Cards

A few posts ago, I promised some more cards made using a napkin.  I got distracted with other things but I am back on track.  The next three card posts will be napkin cards.  They are so fun and quick to make.  Use the napkin technique and add some embellishments and a greeting.....DONE.

Lemons and Sweet Tea Napkin Card

I grew up drinking sweet tea.  In about 10th grade I decided I wanted to lose weight so I started drinking my iced tea sweetened with whatever the artificial sweetner of the time was.  Now I drink unsweet tea unless I am at a BBQ place and then I cheat and mix in some sweet tea.  What is your favorite soft drink?

Christmas in July

I haven't taken advantage of the expression Christmas in July for any of my July posts.  Since the month is almost over, it is time that I do something.  I had a stamp that was this moon Santa and Jim used it for inspiration in this piece which is ornament sized.
I wasn't ready, meaning I didn't have much new stuff, for a Christmas in July card class.  Instead I am going to have Christmas in August card class.  If you would like to attend one of my card classes, leave me a comment and I will get back to you.

Rose Bud

This is a small dainty piece.  If you look carefully, you will see different textures.  The outside is called confetti glass because of all the little pieces inside it.  The next layer has sort of a star texture and then the rose.  My dad had a rose garden so I am partial to roses although I don't grow them.

July Birthday Cat

This is another crazy cat card that will go to one of the sisters.  A few months ago I told you they all have cats so this was the perfect theme for this year's birthday cards.

Mom's Lamp

I am not sure what to call this.  The three dangles in the center are from a lamp that used to hang in the dining room in the house I grew up in.  My dad bought it for my mom one year for Christmas.  I know that sounds like one of those bad gifts, but she loved it.  She had been admiring it in a furniture store window for a long time.  My dad surprised her with it. When my mom sold the house, she replaced it with something more modern and gave the lamp to Jim to use on his glass pieces.  So that is how I came up with the title of this post.

Napkin Cards, The Shells

The next few cards are going to be made using napkins and freezer paper.  Have I posted any of these before?  I can't remember but if I did, I don't think I posted this one.  Are you wondering how I made it?  If anyone is interested in learning how to make them let me know and I will post a free tutorial.  Just leave me a comment if you want the tutorial.

The Dragon Whose Name is Not Peter

We have had several people asking if we can make a dragon.  So here is his first attempt.  Maybe with the new Pete movie coming out we will get someone that really wants one.  I think his face may be a little small.  What do you think?

July 4

Happy 4th of July.  I promised I would tell you what instrument I play today.  Well, I play two different instruments.  On Wednesday night, I play clarinet in the Tampa Community Band.  Thursday nights, I play bass clarinet with the East Hillsborough Community Band.

I bought this stamp at a stamp festival I attended earlier this year.  The treble clef is embossed in gold.  The music notes were left from what I punched out of the other music cards I posted earlier this month.

The Second Patriotic Concert

You may think you have seen this card before back on June 23.  If you look close you will see there is a small difference.  Tonight is our second patriotic concert that my community band is playing.  It is the same program just in a different venue about 20 miles away.  Wonder what instrument I play?  I will let you know on July 4 so check back.

Summertime

This card is so summertime to me with the ice cream cone.  Of course, here it has felt like summer for quite some time.  The other thing on this card that makes me think summer is the turquoise stripes.  for some reason that paper reminds me of a big beach towel.  Now I have to admit something to you.  I am  not a big ice cream eater.  I guess that is probably a good thing because I eat another stuff that isn't good for me.

Patriotic Concert

Every year around the July 4th holiday, the community band I play in on Thursday has a patriotic concert.  It is our best attended concert of the year.  Tonight is the first of two patriotic concerts that we will play this year.  The theme for this year is Sousa.  We won't be playing just Sousa but quite a few.  Of course Stars and Stripes will be one of the songs we play.  Did you know that it is the national march?

Oh and the card, the punch is EK Success that I got at Walmart online.

Clown Fish

For awhile we had a salt water aquarium.  We loved hearing the gentle sound of the water and watching the various fish.  The clown fish was one of the fish we had.  Unfortunately, the electric in our house went out for a few hours when we were not home.  That short amount of time without the pump running in the tank caused all of our fish to die.  We sold the tank shortly afterwards.  All of our pet fish are now made of glass.

Four Leaf Clover

Many people use the four leaf clover to represent something Irish and use it on St Patrick's Day too.  I think the 4 leaf clover is just an American thing that is suppose to bring luck.  St Patrick used a shamrock which has only 3 leaves.  It is used to represent and explain the Trinity.

June Brides

Is it still the tradition that weddings should happen in June?  I really never understood why.  This is a new card for me.  I saw one like it on Pinterest and used what I had to make something like it.  I am still trying to use up designer paper and this one used two different papers, yeah.

Blood Donor

Jim is a blood donor. This past week when he came home from donating, he gave me a sticker. It was in recognition of his donations. He has donated 60 gallons of blood to our local blood bank. Additionally, he has donated blood when he attended the Coast Guard Academy and has no record of how much he donated there. He also donated a pint when we were in New Mexico at the balloon festival because he wanted a special pin that was only for blood donors that day. Are you a blood donor? If you are, thank you for helping to save lives.

Scottish Thistles

Are these flowers thistles? That is what he is calling them and I think he may be right. They are a little on the abstract side so I am not quite sure.  Either way I am classifying this as another Celtic look design.

Celtic Tree

Jim and I both like Celtic things,  I guess because of our Irish and Scottish heritage.  Jim also has this thing about making trees.  I will admit there are several tree rubber stamps in my stash also.  I really like this one because it isn't as dark as many of the trees he has made.  During the past few weeks, he has made several new Celtic pieces that I will be showing you.  He has started a website and I am going to try to remember to mark all the pictures of his glass with his website if you want to take a look.  There is also a link in the right sidebar.

June Birthday Cat

So all of the sisters have a cat.  The crazy cats will be the theme of all the cards I send them this year.  This one got a bit carried away with the balloon.

Crazy Birds

I am going to admit falling for Tim Holtz crazy birds and crazy cats.  I made a card similar to this one for my nail tech when she had some eye surgery.  I sent it to her before hand and the greeting said "you can do it".
